# IMPORTE > API docs say what a server provides. IMPORTE says what the calling code actually requires. When the two drift apart, services break — IMPORTE finds where, before it ships. IMPORTE is a pre-launch developer tool for teams whose services call each other's APIs. It reads the code that calls an API and extracts a consumer-driven contract — the endpoints, parameters, and response fields that code really uses, with the file and line where each one is used — and presents it as an OpenAPI-style document. When the providing side changes (a field renamed, a type updated), IMPORTE compares the two and reports which call sites are affected. It separates what it can confirm from what it cannot, and says so instead of guessing. It does not rewrite the calling code; it tells you where to look and why. ## Product sections - Connection (https://www.importe.dev/#connection): how the providing side (Router/Schema/Logic) and the calling side (Type/Client/Consumer) describe the same contract, and why IMPORTE connects them at a single point. - Extract (https://www.importe.dev/#extract): a frontend-only Swagger extracted from the calling code — endpoints, fields, and the file and line where each field is used. What it cannot confirm stays marked unresolved instead of guessed. - Report (https://www.importe.dev/#report): after the providing side changes, IMPORTE compares both contracts and shows what changed and where it breaks — for example, a field the calling code requires that the provider no longer returns. - Positioning (https://www.importe.dev/#positioning): why IMPORTE exists — so developers can focus on experience and logic instead of repetitive wiring work. ## Status IMPORTE is in early access. Anyone can sign in with GitHub at https://app.importe.dev and connect their repositories to try it.
